Today is Sunday, and I felt obligated to bring my family out to eat. I love Penang Food, I’ve looked forward trying this place for a long time.
It’s not very far from where we live, and I thought why not check it out this place.
The place is quite hidden unless you have the proper address, don’t try to look it yourself. Thanks to google map and WAZE looking for good food is much easier now.
To get to the shop, we have to pass by lots of factories in Kampung Baru Balakong. I’m not a fan of it. But, I guess there is another way you can access to the shop. It was in the middle of Taman Desa Bukit Cahaya shop lot area. You can simply come from Taman Bukit Belimbing or Bandar Damai Perdana.
Once we reached the shop, it’s 80% occupied with patrons. And I like the ambiance of the shop. The shop is a small corner shop with sufficient table and chair. An old classic Kopitiam decoration with a touch of modern taste. The shop is quite cozy and comfortable even without air-conditioning.
Once seated, we were greeted by the owner ( I think). He brought us the menu, and it’s a simple menu with just a few food and drinks available. But, let’s me ensure you, the menu is sufficient.
I think we ordered all the food on the menu.
Duck Kuay Teow Th’ng RM7.50
Duck Kuay Teow Th’ng has clear and rich broth. It serves with sliced duck meat and smooth kway teow noodle. We felt Duck Kuay Teow Th’ng was much better than Penang White Curry Mee.
Penang Loh Bak RM7.50
A mediocre Penang Lok Bak. A good appetizer before the food arrived. The Lok Bak serves with fried tofu and some salad on the side. An optional food to order.
Prawn Noodle RM7.50
Prawn noodle has an excellent taste of the broth. Rich, flavorful and slightly spicy. We love to have it with Kway Teow, but you can choose any noodles you like. The Kway Teow was smooth and silky, a great combination with the rich broth. The only downer is the prawns was way too small.
Penang White Curry Mee RM7.50
I had this Penang White Curry Mee with yellow noodle and bee hoon. Which not my favorite combination of noodle. I forget to change the noodle. But, anyway the Curry Mee quite delicious. However, I do think the Penang White Curry Mee by Mykuali is much better than this. Though, the ingredients are quite fresh.
Hokkien Char RM7.50
This is my first time trying Hokkien Char, and it’s not bad. My dad loves this. According to the owner, the best combination will be Bee Hoon and Kway Teow. But, we opt for Kway Teow only.
The damage comes to RM60 as we ordered almost 7 dishes from the menu and couple of drinks. I guess it’s a fair price.
My Opinion:
1. The food is alright. If you’re staying far away, I don’t think it’s worth the drive. However, if you’re staying at this place, try and check out the place.
2. We have mixed review about the place. It’s an average food with 1-2 food quite worth to try. Like, Duck Kuay Teow Th’ng & Prawn Noodle.
3. Will I come back? Yeah, maybe.
