The other day, after a business meeting, we were walking around KLCC and stumbled upon this place YUZU. It looks appealing from the outside. Before this, I heard a lot of positive feedback about this place. So, we were intrigued to try the food.
It was not lunch hour when we reached, is like after lunch hour. So, a lot of tables still empty. But while we were waiting for our food to be served, more people walked in to have their late lunches there. So the ambience looks livelier a bit.
The ambience here is very nice, clean and spacious. Can be a little chilly. Suitable for a quiet lunch or dinner to have a decent conversation without deafening music over you. Diners in Yuzu were in working attire; smartly dressed.
We were brought to a four seated table even though is only two of us. I like that about a restaurant. It gives us a bigger space to put my bag or even to order more. Once seated, we ordered 2 cups of green tea. ( RM10 for 2 cups, what a ripoff!) Same like others Japanese Restaurant, it is refillable.
I heard many complaints on TripAdvisor about their services, but I found that the services were okay. Not fast or friendly, just alright.
To be honest, is not cheap dining here, at least both of us think that. The ala carte items can be super expensive, but I still find their set menus to be worth the bang for the buck.
So, we ordered Sashimi And Unagi Set RM69 and Yuzu Gozen RM59. It took about 15-20 minutes for the food to arrive.
Let’s talk about the food.
Sashimi And Unagi Set RM69
It came with assorted sashimi, BBQ Japanese eel (unagi) and two pieces hand roll served with baked oyster, appetiser, chawanmushi, salad, fruits and teapot soup.
The sashimi was rather a cold cut and small slice; I’m not satisfied, but I can still accept it. The unagi was tasty. However, the portion was rather small. The two handrolls, one was California Roll, and another was Prawn Tempura Roll was okay, but still I think their handroll was smaller portion compare to other Japanese restaurants.
Baked oyster was nice, and i like it. Appetiser, salad and fruits were normal, nothing to shout out. But, the teapot miso soup was unique for me, it is my first time experienced having my miso soup in a teapot. The teapot came with a small bowl. Just pour the soup from teapot to the bowl and drink.
My favourite among all, Chawanmushi. The Chawanmushi was smooth, silky, savoury and it was warm enough while having it.
For the Yuzu Gozen RM59, it came with grilled Wagyu beef, sashimi, assorted sushi and tempura served with chawanmushi (egg custard), appetiser, pickles, salad, fruits and teapot soup.
The wagyu beef here really nothing to be excited. Feel like just another regular beef dish. Sashimi was small and cold. And the sushi was a downsized version. Tempura was cold and soggy. Chawanmushi was good. Appetiser, pickles, salad, fruits and teapot soup were just alright.
The total bill was about RM160, which I think quite expensive.

Personal View:
1. For the price in YUZU, I think you can get a better Japanese food in other places.
2. Will I come again? Maybe not. The food was just decent and kind of small portions. But, price can be steep or expensive.
