In Malaysia, we are lucky enough to have easy access to char siu everywhere but i’m still thinking the best char siu is when you make at home. Because, when you eat char siu while it is hot or warm the texture will be softer.

Normally, outside stalls would hang the meat infront of the stall and air dried it, as a result the Char Siu was dried and harden.

Char siu is normally serve with rice or noodle. So, i did have a cheat version and the long version recipe. Both taste delicious.

On the normal work day, i will have to go for the cheat version which is using Lee Kum Kee char siu sauce. But, if i do not have the ready made sauce, alternatively, i would just make my own char siu sauce.

I’m going to stop bubbling now and let’s you guys try the recipe.

Happy cooking!
